Physical Therapist

I grew up in Park Forest Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University in 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri. I went on to receive my Masters in Manipulative Physical Therapy from the University of South Australia in Adelaide, South Australia. I have pursued 78 hours out of 90 hours toward my Doctor of Health Sciences from the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I have been board-certified as a Women’s Health Physical Therapist through the APTA, I have been certified as a Lymphedema Therapist through Klose and certified in Dry Needling through Integrative Dry Needling.

My career has included practicing as a staff physical therapist specializing in women’s and men’s health issues and orthopedic-related conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting. I have been an adjunct professor (orthopedics, women/men’s health, student-run therapy clinic) at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, and Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. I have been a lab assistant in pelvic floor courses through Herman and Wallace.

My core values are: To always do my best and to never give up when things are difficult.

My Dad is the person I look up to most, after losing our mother at a young age he has been both mom and dad often getting the name “shedad”.
His best advice has been:

“Never Give Up” and “Choices are tough, but be thankful you have choices to make because many people have no choices”.

I have been specializing in women’s and men’s health issues and orthopedic-related conditions, manual therapy is my specialty and I enjoy utilizing intramuscular dry needling.

I love treating urinary/fecal incontinence, pelvic pain and constipation.

I enjoy treating our clients with one on one care and not having to worry about insurance dictating how we treat.

I have two children, one studying at Purdue University and one about to start studying at Miami University. I have recently remarried, and my husband has two children, one who studies at Purdue University and one who is about to study at the University of Indiana.

Patient Care Concerns: I would love to be able to “fix” their pain.

My Favorite book and movie is Pride and Prejudice.
My favorite TV show is Law and Order (all the spin offs).

Outside of work, I enjoy running with friends, running road races, and participating in triathlons. I enjoy traveling and have been fortunate to have seen many national parks (with my children as my adventure partners) and other countries. I love to read (listen to audiobooks) while running, cycling, swimming, and driving, and I have been in the same book club for 12 years.
