Dr. Beth Dougherty
PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
I grew up on the North Side of Indy and completed schooling in state at Purdue University for undergraduate and University of Evansville for graduate school. While in undergrad I was able to complete my Spanish minor with a semester abroad in Argentina- Bienvenido! Un gusto conocerte!
After completing my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Evansville I found a calling in the specialized niche of Performing Arts Physical Therapy. I spent the first chapter of my career touring nationally and internationally as the resident PT for major dance and theater productions, caring for the entire company — dancers, singers, musicians, and crew alike. My credits include Disney’s Aladdin, TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, Hamilton (North American tours), CATS (South Korea 40th Anniversary tour), and Sleep No More (Shanghai).
Conditions I Enjoy Treating
I am part of the orthopedic care team at RYC PT with a special interest in performing arts, including dancers, singers, movers, and musicians. I enjoy treating the variety of conditions bodies present with.
Everyone has a different journey to Physical Therapy and I want my clients to know they are heard. I love educating my patients and connecting the dots between what they feel in their bodies and how that translates to their function in their world. When the brain-body connection solidifies, success becomes more attainable!
Why I Love Working at Restore Your Core PT
What I enjoy about being part of the RYC team is their dedication to the patient in providing the best care for the individual and building you up to function at your best. The clinicians here are kind, smart and supportive; I’m fortunate to find a place here.
Outside the Clinic
Outside the clinic, I stay active with a mix of indoor and outdoor pursuits, frequent local bakeries, read solo and with my book club, travel when possible, and love supporting the local arts community.
Quote
There are many quotes that have become mantras throughout different stages of my life, many of them from favorite books, movies and the stage. One of the simplest and most poignant is from Broadway legend:
“No one is alone.”
– Stephen Sondheim
